Sick of Friendship Rejection… Plurk Layouts To The Rescue
Posted on 23. Jun, 2009 by Olivia Bell in How To.
Over the last few months we have written several articles which have been very popular and helpful (as we’re told!) so here is one more. ![]()
Below I have outlined the good things to do, and bad things – not everyone will agree, or feel the same, but, like most things, I’m working on the majority of plurk users. ![]()
In this post, I’m working on the basis that you don’t know the person you’re requesting friendship from. So here are some tips:-
Sit tight – here we go! ![]()
Reasons for Friendship
Most plurk users will accept friendship requests, or add you, because:-
- They are close to you
- They know you very well (offline or online)
- They think you’re interesting
- They would like to converse with you for a number of reasons (see above)
- They need to discuss private matters with you.
- They want more friends (hey, it’s true – strangely, people think more friends makes them “cool”!)

How To Request Friendship and Get Accepted
As I said earlier, I’m working on the basis that you don’t know the person you’re requesting friendship from.
- Step 1:- Add them as a fan (if this isn’t allowed, you have to take the plunge and add them as a friend)
- Step 2:- Reply to their plurks with interesting, detailed replies – make the effort to reply so they have “seen” you around.
- Step 3:- Wait patiently. Keep replying over a few days – maybe even weeks, depending on how popular the person is.
- Step 4:- Go ahead and “add as friend” and see what happens!
Most people will accept you as a friend if you’ve been replying to their plurks, and have been party to conversation. It’s that simple. ![]()
What Not To Do
- If you get rejected, do not continuously add as a friend – the plurker will just get frustrated. If they don’t accept, they’ll have a reason for it.
- Do not spam plurks, reply with meaningless replies
- Do not respond to their plurks in another language they don’t understand.
- Do not plurk in another language unless you know they understand that language. Most users won’t accept friendship from those who do not speak the same language.
- Do not ask for users to accept your friendship unless there is a really valid reason for doing so – like an emergency
Be The Best You Can Be
We have written a lot of articles which should help you become the best you can be on Plurk, be the most interesting, fun, exciting – and therefore be the one accepting/rejecting friend requests rather than requesting!
I highly advise reading these and wish you the best of luck!
